John J Reilly
John joined the University in 2011 as John Anderson Research Leader and a Professor of Physical Activity & Public Health Science. He was formerly Professor of Paediatric Energy Metabolism at the University of Glasgow. John’s current research work focuses on interventions for the prevention of child and adolescent obesity worldwide. This includes researching the consequences of obesity and low physical activity in children and adolescents globally as well as the global development and consequences of sedentary behaviour during childhood and adolescence.
He is involved in Knowledge Exchange largely through leading the ‘Active Healthy Kids Scotland Report Card’, a ‘state of the nation’ report on the physical activity and health of Scottish children and adolescents which now forms part of a global matrix of similar ‘report cards’ to facilitate international comparisons. John is also an editor of the journal of ‘Pediatric Obesity’ and has written over 200 peer reviewed papers on his research subjects.
