Explosive Kids - Understanding & Supporting Children with Violent or Self-Destructive Behaviour, With Tony France (Afternoon)

This course focuses on understanding and supporting children and adolescents who demonstrate violent, often aggressive, self-destructive or controlling behaviours.

About The Course

We’ll introduce you to Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), an innovative evidence-based approach to managing serious and harmful behaviour problems in children. NVR is becoming increasingly popular in the UK in schools, social care services and CAMHS as an effective alternative to more traditional behavioural approaches.

NVR provides a model through which practitioners can use their established skills to connect with children and families to create a boundary-like and attuned approach to providing constructive experiences in limits, demands and the ability to cope.

By the end of the course, participants will have:

• Gained knowledge and insight into the principles that underpin a Non-Violent Resistance approach

• Explored and understood the NVR model

• Examined the key elements involved in the approach

• Had opportunity to reflect on implications and opportunities for practice

Who Should Attend

A must-attend course for professionals working in local authorities, education, social care, voluntary organisations, CAMHS services, police and others supporting children, adolescents and families.
