Child To Parent Violence, With Tony France (Morning)

Child to parent violence/aggression continues to be a particularly hidden form of domestic violence and like other forms of domestic abuse, is under reported. Reports from parents, teachers and practitioners tell us that it is growing both in its frequency and intensity and the experience of lockdown has seen these reports increase by over 70%. There is no current legal definition, no standard recording of incidents and this is managed within welfare and protection systems that do not have the policy or guidance to formulate responses.

About The Course

This course is intended to introduce participants to the practical and moral maze surrounding the issue and explore what we currently know about prevalence, who is affected, likely causes and impact. You’ll gain a better understanding of this area and there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion on this incredibly important topic.

By the end of the course, participants will have:

• Become familiar with the common terms and language associated with child to parent violence

• Gained insight into recent lessons from research and services

• Examined current thinking relating to causes and motivation

• Explored implications for practice

Who Should Attend

A must-attend course for professionals working in local authorities, education, social care, voluntary organisations, CAMHS services, police and others supporting children and adolescents and families.
